VegasStarfish (Jennifer Gay): False and Misleading Vegas Claims

Influencer VegasStarfish (Jennifer Gay) is once again spreading false and misleading information about Las Vegas, this time about Rio Hotel and Casino.

Jen claims that Rio is “switching their customer service to fully AI” and that Rio “switched their entire guest service strategy to AI & ChatGPT.” This is not true. In reality, Rio is expanding their existing AI ecosystem.

This new platform acts like a concierge service, expanding what was already there. You can still interact with humans for your requests. I’ve stayed at Rio many times, and had great human customer service at the front desk and in the Hyatt VIP room.

I also visited the hotel AI service’s main website, and it notes that issues can be escalated to staff members and interactions can be transferred to team members. Either way, front-desk service at Hyatt VIP service is still an option, much unlike Jen falsely claiming Rio is “switching their customer service to fully AI.”

The AI website also says it “preserves a clear human handoff for moments that need empathy or judgment.”

Jen’s video is incredibly biased against Rio, fixating on an issue she had with her room two years ago. She used charged language like “deplorable” and goes so far as to say Rio is the “second worst hotel in all of Las Vegas” and “we should talk about boycotting them.” Jen even says she “will keep using footage” of Rio she recorded around the time of her issue two years ago because “it makes their social media intern really mad.”

In the last few weeks, Jen was also spreading misleading and false information claiming you can get “completely free vacations” and “never pay for a hotel again” and that MGM and Caesars “may waive resort fees” if you gamble $100 as a new player (read more here).

John of VegasAdvantage called Jen’s idea “some of the worst promotional advice I have ever heard.”

She also conflated ‘loose slots’ with ‘where do you win the most?’ in a social media poll, then deflected criticism saying it was ‘just for fun.’

Then, she made a false claim implying that you “cannot” book a particular restaurant unless you booked with a food tour company…she worked with…even though OpenTable had availability.

Her biased behavior associated with this food tour company dates back to at least 2023, when she didn’t disclose her business interests in her promotions.

Vegas Starfish Jennifer Gay has a pattern of false, biased, and misleading claims.
